Welcome to the website for
III International Symposium on Fire Economics, Planning and Policy: Common Problems and Approaches

The first Symposium on Fire Economics, Planning, and Policy was held in San Diego, California in 1999. Fire managers, practitioners, natural resource managers, economists, researchers, academicians, and others came together to discuss economic, planning, and policy issues related to wildfires management impacts. Building on the success of the first symposium, the second International Symposium on Fire Economics was held in Córdoba, Spain during the spring of 2004. Sixty-seven papers and 19 posters were presented at the Symposium, which hosted 245 participants from 12 countries.

We expect this third edition of the International Symposium on Fire Economics to build on the success of the Córdoba one. Mark your calendar and come participate on this symposium, which discusses issues and concerns that are not addressed in other fire conferences. Come partake of the scientific and professional exchange of ideas on the wildland fire management problematic, and then enjoy the tropical island of Puerto Rico.
