Stands for liquid crystal display and it is a television screen that uses the same technology found on a laptop. They are cheaper and use less power then other alternatives like Plasma screens.
Plasma TV
A plasma television is a good alternative to an LCD television. They are usually more expensive but can provide better detail. It uses different technology to LCD screens.
DVD or Blu Ray?

can u use a apple cinema display with a dell laptop?
i have a flat panel apple cinema display 17" moniter, can i use it with my dell inspirion mini...this screen is too d#$m small. and if they are compatible ...how do i hook it up to my laptop?
There is no such thing as a 17-inch Apple Cinema Display. Apple Cinema Displays are widescreen monitors. What you have is an old Apple Studio Display, which is not a widescreen. It's an older 5:4-aspect ratio monitor equipped with only an ADC connector.
In order to connect the Studio Display to a computer with a DVI or HDMI output, you will need to buy the Apple ADC-to-DVI adapter.
Hope this helps.
