Dell’s Trying To Kick HP Down A Bit
Dell Inc. computers are doing their best to move from the number two spot into the top position of worldwide PC (personal computers) sales. HP (Hewlett-Packard Co.) is the international boss in the number one position of PC sales.
Dell finally offered their PC’s this past May in actual stores. Dell chose Wal-Mart as the fortunate retail in question. In 3,000 plus stores, Dell PC’s were sold. Dell then sold the famous Dell Inspiron 530 desktops, as well as the Inspiron 1721 and 1521 notebooks at Staples retail outlets. Now Dell not only has their on-line and telephone ads, but also 10,000 additional stores worldwide.
The competition for the number one spot is definitely on, especially when you consider that HP is also offered at Staples stores. The competitors will plainly be placed side by side on the shelves. In addition to the rivalry, notebook computer sales are on the rise due to great demand of bringing fiber optic capability into the suburban home. There appears to be an ease with which folks are tapping into the fiber networks and using optical transceivers that include SFP or ones with Gigabit Ethernet or GBIC modules for short. This is what speeds up the internet process. Giving and receiving phone communications and digital television broadcasts are other purposes for optical fiber systems. But most home owners are still using dial up connections instead of broadband gear or the aid of optical transceivers, that accelerates the wireless connection and have been available since the 1970’s.
Part of Dell’s new marketing that may give them a slight edge to consumers, is the lead-reduced versions of its OptiPlex GX520 and GX620 corporate desktop computers that were shown to an encouraging response, earlier this month. Dell is kicking it up a notch in its proactive environmental company image by launching these new desktops.
Dell’s earnings per share are at a record 49 cents with returns of $15 billion and operating income of $1.2 billion for their 2012 first quarter. Dell’s aim to move into the number one position is almost assured, spelling out victory for them. Now the customers must choose with their wallets.

Hi. Most Optiplex models have two screws on the backside to remove the cover. This gets you into the machine and you can do whatever you like.
