Power Supply for a Slimline PC?
I am getting a ASUS EAH5450 SILENT/DI/512MD2(LP) Radeon HD 5450 512MB 64-bit DDR2 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Ready Video Card which requires 400W to work. Could a CORSAIR Builder Series CX430 CMPSU-430CX 430W ATX12V Active PFC Power Supply fit in my Inspiron 530s Slim Tower?
Slimline computers cannot accept regular ATX power supplies like that Corsair. Standard sized psus are simply too large to fit.
But as previously pointed out, the Radeon HD 5450 doesn't really need 400 watts. it should run fine on the stock Dell power supply.
In fact, the low-profile Radeon HD 4650 or GeForce GT220 should also work with your existing power supply, and those are better performers. The low-profile Radeon HD 5570 is even faster. It always works with 300W power supplies but below that, results vary. It's certainly worth a shot.
