Is a European PlayStation 3's power supply universal?
I will be moving from Europe coming to Canada and would like to know if my PAL 40gb PlayStation 3 (CECHH04) power supply (220-240V~ 1.7A 50/60Hz) is universal and will work on 110v power without the need of a step down transformer.
The reason I am asking this even though the sticker on my PS3 says 220-240v only is because I have read that other people have imported US PS3's to Europe and have successfully been able to use the consoles on Euro power without a transformer (only cable with Euro plug) despite the sticker at the bottom of the US system saying 110v only.
Thanks in advance!
Some early versions had it, but the only way to find out is to open it and see for yourself, it's no listed in the manual. This will void the warranty. If you're buying a converter, get a good, bulky 400W-500W converter. Cheap light ones won't work.
Knowledge Is A Universal Natural Resource -- And Locking It Up Hurts Everyone (Techdirt)
One of the more important points in understanding some of the fights over the
ridiculousness of today's copyright and patent laws is to recognize how
knowledge (information) is a _natural resource_. It is the input that makes
other great things. Economist Paul Romer's famous research really showed how
knowledge and information as a resource is what creates economic growth. Once
you recognize that fact, you begin to run into problems when you think about
locking up that natural resource. Think of other natural resources. Do we
think the world is better off if there's a greater supply of each of those? An
abundance? If we have an abundance of wheat, that's a good thing. If we have
an abundance of energy, that's a good thing. There may be _side effects_ of
such abundances, but the overall abundance is something worth cherishing.
The problem, however, comes when you have a new abundance where once there was
scarcity. And that's because anywhere there's a scarcity, someone has built a
business model based on that very scarcity. But that is a business model
issue. Years ago, most economies rejected the idea of mercantilism, where
governments would purposely build ...
