Is USB connectivity for a Nokia 6310i possible?

I have tried to connect my Nokia 6310i to my Dell Inspiron 1000 via a serial lead and failed - there is no serial port on my computer.

I have searched for an alternative and there are many websites that are selling USB data cables. They claim that connectivity is acheived.

I'm not so sure that it is as easy as that!

The 6310i was designed to be connected via a serial connection.

The phone and the software (PC Suite), were designed before the advent of USB and would probably work on a computer built 5+ years ago!

I'm nowhere near red hot on this, is there anyone out there who has managed to connect their 6310i to their computer via a USB connection?

all the phone now should have usb and blue tooth now, check it out the ports

you can see from the video below, it transfers HD video and high-res images in
a snap -- it also sports USB connectivity. Like its predecessor, the reader's
available from _MIC_ for $29.90, but you'll have to wait at least a month to
get your hands on one. Oh, and a word of warning, you might want to make sure
the iPad supports your camera's video format before shelling out the dough, as
_MIC_ found the slab couldn't playback video from a Canon EOS 5D Mark II.
